Thistle Initiatives’ M&A Services team has assisted Wren Sterling in its first acquisition of 2026, adding Gloucester based Brunsdon Financial to the Group as part of its long-term growth strategy, subject to FCA approval.
Our M&A Services team supported Wren Sterling throughout the transaction, providing buy side regulatory due diligence. Our work focused on assessing FCA regulatory risks, reviewing governance and controls, and helping the deal progress smoothly in line with FCA requirements.
Brunsdon advises nearly 800 households with around £265m of assets under advice. The deal brings 8 advisers and 9 colleagues across operations and central functions into Wren Sterling. It also strengthens the Wren Sterling’s presence across the Cotswolds and the South West, complementing offices in Broadway and Oxford.
James Twining, CEO of Wren Sterling, said:
“We’ve found Thistle to be an excellent partner. Their team combines deep technical knowledge with a pragmatic, commercial approach, which makes their advice genuinely useful at both board and operational level.”
Harry Cotton, Partner and Head of M&A at Thistle Initiatives added:
“It was a pleasure supporting Wren Sterling on another successful acquisition. We look forward to continuing our partnership and assisting the Wren Sterling team with future transactions.”
