FCA announces Consumer Duty webinars

Summary

The FCA announced in July that it was planning to introduce a new Consumer Duty  setting higher and clearer standards of consumer protection across financial services and requiring firms to put their customers’ needs first.

The regulator has since announced that it is hosting a series of sector-based webinars on the Consumer Duty in October and November 2022 to help firms understand what the FCA expects and how to prepare for implementation.

The webinars cover the following sectors:

Insurance on 18 October at 10am
Consumer investments, pensions and asset management on 18 October at 2pm
Banking and payments on 1 November at 10am
Retail lending on 1 November at 2pm.

The webinar sessions are aimed at regulated firms, trade associations, professional bodies, and compliance consultants and will focus on the following areas:

• The FCA’s expectations and key milestones for the implementation period
• What the regulator means by outcomes-based regulation
• What the Consumer Duty means for your sector.

There will be a Q&A section during each live webinar. Questions can be submitted when registering for the webinar or during the event itself. Registration is required to take part in one or more of the webinars, which will also be available online following the live event.
